Santorini

GreeceJune 20235 daysHot, dry, perfect

We rented a tiny cave house tucked into a cliff. Every morning I'd push open the blue shutters and there it was — that impossible postcard view, the caldera dropping into the sea. We ate tomatoes the size of fists and drank assyrtiko like it was water.

Long lunches at Metaxi Mas: tomato fritters, fava, grilled octopus.

Catamaran around the caldera, swim in the volcanic hot springs at golden hour.

The Oia castle sunset crush — find a quieter terrace one street over.

Notes

  1. Jun 04

First sunset on the cliff steps. Total silence in a crowd of two hundred people. Strange and beautiful.

  2. Jun 06

Boat day. The sea was so calm it looked solid. Jumped off the side anyway.

  3. Jun 08

Last evening. Cried a little watching the sun drop. Don't tell anyone.
